Introduction to the Expo
The First China(Shanghai) International Product & Technology Import Expo will be jointly held by China-Europe Association for Technology &Economic Cooperation,Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Center Co., Ltd. Shanghai Pentagonal Mart Co., Ltd. and Beijing Zhong-zhao International Exhibition Co., Ltd. with the support of the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC at Shanghai from Nov .14 to Nov .16, 2008 in a bid to maintain stable export growth and actively expand import and to carry out the document of "the Catalogue of Technologies and Products Whose Import Is Encouraged" promulgated in November,2007.
This Expo is designed to build an all-dimensional, multi-tiered and highly-efficient marketing platform for technologies and equipments import, in hopes that the Chinese market can provide systemic assistance for such areas as IT, energy conservation and environment protection, bio-pharmacy, printing & packaging, electro-mechanics& machinery, textiles and garments, light industry products, telecommunications, farm machines & tools and food processing.

Major Activities
1、 Technological Exchanges and Purchases between Chinese and Foreign Enterprises
Domestic purchasing companies were organized to the Expo and encouraged to conduct face to face talk with manufacturers.
2、Briefing of New Products & Technologies
Places were arranged for free and media informed in advance in accordance with the reservation of the participating enterprises.
3、Products Presentation
Presentations are held according to the purchasing requirements of the domestic companies.
4、Implement Policies Reached at China Import Encouraging Policy Summit
Invite relative government officials of the State Council to explain China’s policy of encouraging and promoting import.

Introduction of Shanghai Pentagonal Mart

Shanghai Pentagonal Mart, covering a land of 300,000 square meters and with a total construction area of approximately 500,000 square meters, is located in the north of Huinan new city, Nanhui district, which is at the heart of a golden triangle formed by Liujiazui finance and trade zone, Waigaoqiao port area, Pudong international Airport and Yangshan International Deep-water Port. With China International Sourcing Center and China Import Commodity Center as the two main organizations, the Shanghai Pentagonal Mart incorporates such functions as exposition, trade, government and commercial services, business, and food services, amusement, sight-seeing, relaxing and meeting facilities.

Participating Procedures
Booth Reservation
Exhibiters shall fax the endorsed application form to the organizing committee, and the committee will arrange the booths according to the space and content of the exhibiters, while adhering to the principle of coming first, getting first
Payment of Fee
Exhibiters should remit the related-fees to the designated account of the organizing committee three days after faxing the application form to the organizing committee
Booth Confirmation
The organizing committee will confirm the booth after receiving the fees and provide the brochure of General Rules for Exhibition, Exhibiters should make preparation for the show

The General Rules of Exhibition Application for
China (Shanghai) International Product & Technology Import Expo

1﹑Exhibition Application
1.1 Exhibitors must accept that the signature of the application form means that they agree to take all the responsibilities listed in these rules.
1.2 Deadline for exhibition application: September 30th, 2008
1.3 The organizing committee will reply the verification within 10 days after the organizing committee receives the application form.

2﹑Cost of Exhibition and Rules for Payment
2.1. Exhibitors should mail all the cost of exhibition to the designated account (Shanghai Pentagonal Mart 1001182619000128083 Lujiazui Subbranch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China ) within 15 days after their application forms are verified, and fax the remittance slip to the organizing committee office. The deadline for the payment is: October 10th, 2008.
2.2 For the exhibitors who prefer to have the invoice mailed to them, the organizing committee will issue standard invoice and mail it to exhibitors. Other exhibitors may get their invoice at the organizing committee office before or during the exhibition. If the remitter fails to match the title of exhibitors, or if the invoice account does not conform to the title of exhibitors, the exhibitors must inform the organizing committee in advance.
2.3 After the organizing committee determines the exhibitors have paid all the costs, it will issue certification papers, which are the prerequisites for the exhibitors to conduct the exhibition.

3. Booth Allocation
3.1 The organizing committee will have a unified allocation of booths for exhibitors according to the layout of each specified area.
3.2. The organizing committee will allocate booths according to the applying order of exhibitors
3.3 Booths should be used by exhibitors only, and should not be sublet, rented or jointly used by the third party.

4. Change, Decrease, Removal and Cancellation of Booths
4.1 Change of booths: based on the overall situation or request of exhibitors, the organizing committee has the right to change or reallocate the booked booths. If that happens beside other exhibitors’ booths and affects their display, the organizing committee should inform the change to other exhibitors in written form. The general rules and other regulations still apply.
4.2 Decrease of booths: decrease of booths should be stated by the exhibitors in written form and come into effect after the organizing committee agrees. If the request of reducing booths is made before August 30th, 2008, exhibitors should pay 20% of the margin resulted from change from the original booth rental fees to the fees after the change. If this request is made between August 30th and September 15th, 2008, the exhibitors should pay 60% of the margin of the same sort. If the request is made on September 15, 2008 or after, the exhibitors should pay all the original booth rental fees.

4.3 Booth Cancellation: If the exhibitors would like to cancel a booth, he need submit a written application and transact the exhibition-cancelling procedure after the confirmation of the organizing committee. As the cancellation of an exhibitor’s participation application brings loss to the organizing committee, the exhibitors need agree to compensate according to the ways below:
(a) If the booth is cancelled before Aug 30, 2008, 20% of the total exhibition fees need be compensated.
(b) If the booth is cancelled during the period between Aug 30, 2008 and Sep 15, 2008, 60% of the total exhibition fees need be compensated.
(c) If cancelled after Sep 15, 2008, the total exhibition fees need to be compensated.
4.4 Booth Removal: If the exhibitor has not been able to pay the total exhibition fees on schedule or can not observe relevant regulations of China (Shanghai)International Product & Technology Import Expo, the organizing committee is authorized to withdraw the exhibitor’s booth. The removal of the booth need be informed in written form by the organizing committee. According to the time to remove, the exhibitors must pay the compensations according to the related agreement of General Rule 4.3. After the removing, the organizing committee can sublet the booth to other exhibitors. The organizing committee will draw up a receipt for booth removing fees to the exhibitors.
5、Booth Construction and Booth Security
5.1 Booth Construction:The exhibitors should observe provisions on the booth construction in the Exhibition Handbook. The exhibitor has the duty to inform these regulations to its assigned construction company. The exhibitor is responsible for the booth construction security. All activities in the booth must observe the exhibition rules in the Exhibition Handbook.
5.2 Booth Security: The organizing committee will take necessary and full-scope security measures according to the exhibition interests, but it is not responsible for the loss or damage of the exhibited articles or other properties or personal injuries before, during or after the Expo. During the Expo, if there are some accidents of personal injuries, the exhibitors should undertake the liability of compensation. If the exhibitor has valuables that need all-night stock, he need buy insurance individually or invite a special guard service, and all fees are paid by themselves. Please contact the organizing committee if the exhibitors need some help.
5.3 Security of Exhibiting Articles: During the Expo, exhibited articles should not be carried out of the exhibition hall. If there are some special needs to be brought out, they must be confirmed by a certificate signed and issued by the organizing committee and checked by the guard.
5.4 The exhibitors need to agree the organizing committee may take necessary actions for the security of visitors. The organizing committee is not responsible for the economic losses of the exhibitors caused by the security actions to safeguard the Expo.
6、Provisions On Exhibition Rules
6.1 Volume Control at the Booth: The exhibitors should control the volume at the booth according to the lowest volume regulations in the exhibition hall. Sound boxes must not be faced to the neighboring booth and the volume should be controlled in the volume regulations ranges. If there are some violations or complaints made by the neighboring exhibitors or visitors, the organizing committee is authorized to submit a written request of lowering the volume to the exhibitors. If the exhibitors still refuses to adjust the volume after receiving the requests for three times, the organizing committee is authorized to shut off the power source at the booth and restore it until the exhibitors observes the related volume control regulations.
6.2 Live Demonstration: If the exhibitor has some products for a live demonstration, he need take prerequisite countermeasures beforehand and must guarantee that it will not affect regular activities of the neighboring exhibitors or visitors. The demonstration content should not violate laws or regulations of the state.
6.3 On-spot Sales Forbidden: It is forbidden to sell (on cash, check and credit card) exhibited articles during the scheduled time of the organizing committee, while it is permitted for a real commercial order (transported afterwards). This rule will be strictly implemented, and the violated will be expelled from China (Shanghai)International Product & Technology Import Expo.
6.4 When registered, an explicit list of exhibited articles needs to be provided to the organizing committee. During the Expo, all must be exhibited according to the listed articles and any item without the confirmation of the organizing committee is not allowed to be exhibited.
6.5 Publication or Publicity Materials: Unless permitted by the organizing committee, it is forbidden for the exhibitors to deliver publication or publicity materials out of the booth.
6.6 If the organizing committee closes the booth of an exhibitor for his violation of the rules or agreements, the exhibitors can not get the refund or compensation.
7、Provisions On Intellectual Property Rights
7.1 The exhibitors must guarantee that exhibited articles at China (Shanghai)International Product & Technology Import Expo have legitimate intellectual property rights (patent, copyright, trademark etc) or authorized rights, and the organizing committee is authorized to request to remove the exhibited articles that are not allowed according to the provision.
7.2 The exhibitors must guarantee the intellectual property rights to advertise at the official publication or in the exhibition hall of China (Shanghai)International Product & Technology Import Expo. The content of the advertisement must conform to laws and regulations of the state, and the organizing committee has the rights of examination and the finalization.
7.3 The exhibitors has the duty to make defense or even compensations for the China (Shanghai)International Product & Technology Import Expo intellectual property rights disputes that are aroused by his own acts.
7.4 The organizing committee has the rights to use LOGO and relevant materials of exhibitors to publicize China (Shanghai)International Product & Technology Import Expo.
8、Dispute Settlement and Laws Applied
8.1 If the two sides disputed on the General Rules or the implementation, they need consult friendly, and if the consultations fail, either side can indict to the People’s Court that has jurisdiction over the organizing committee.
8.2 Laws of the People’s Republic of China prevail in the conclusion, implementation, interpretation and settlement of disputes of the General Rules.
