Auf der Ministerkonferenz der Welthandelsorganisation (WTO) in Genf forderte EU-Handelskommissar Peter Mandelson am Montagvormittag, dass die Entwicklungsländer innerhalb der Organisationen ihre Zölle auf importierte Industrieprodukte "realistisch abbauen", damit sie ihre Märkte tatsächlich für die Mitgliedsländer öffnen. Dies sei die "politische Grundlinie" für den Erfolg der Konferenz, so Mandelson weiter. Dem Vorschlag der Welthandelsorganisation zufolge sollten die WTO-Entwicklungsländer ihre Zollgebühren für importierte Industrieprodukte auf 19 bis 22 Prozent reduzieren. Derzeit beläuft sich der Zollgebührensatz für importierte Industrieprodukte in Indien, Brasilien und einigen anderen Ländern auf 30 Prozent. Dazu sagte der brasilianische Außenminister Celso Amorim auf der Konferenz, dass Brasilien seine Zollgebühren maximal auf 25 Prozent senken werde. |
