 Am Montag um 4 Uhr 58 wurde die chinesische Nationalflagge nach der normalen Flaggenhissenszeremonie auf dem Tian'anmen-Platz in Beijing zum Zeichen der Trauer über die Todesopfer des verheerenden Erdbebens auf Halbmast gesetzt. Bis Sonntagnachmittag sind bei diesem Erdbeben in Sichuan landesweit insgesamt 32.476 Menschen ums Leben gekommen und mehr als 220.000 verletzt worden. Der chinesische Staatsrat hat von 19. bis 21. Mai Staatstrauer angeordnet. In dieser Zeit wird der olympische Fackellauf in China vorübergehend eingestellt. Weiteren Meldungen zufolge hat ein Sprecher der Regierung der chinesischen Sonderverwaltungszone Hongkong am Sonntagabend angekündigt, die chinesischen Nationalflaggen bei allen Regierungsbehörden und Schulen während der Staatstrauertage auf Halbmast zu setzen. In der chinesischen Sonderverwaltungszone Macao werden während der Staatstrauertage die chinesischen Nationalflaggen ebenfalls auf Halbmast gesetzt. Zudem werden öffentliche Vergnügensaktivitäten eingestellt. |
